D.R.E.A.M.
Nine Pilot School
Projects:
Los Brazos Cultural Literacy Center
Caraballo Batey Community Center
The Guzman Ariza DREAM Summer Camp
DREAM Teacher Training Center Model School
Each community
has unique needs,
but all are struggling
to educate
underprivileged
children in the
Dominican
Republic. Our plan
is to expand our
model programs
gradually to other
communities only
after we have
ensured that the
local communities
will be able to
support and sustain
these schools. In the
founding years,
important
groundwork was
laid. Classrooms,
bathrooms, and
libraries were all
constructed, and
resources were
collected. Now is it
very important to
teach the community
as to how to take
advantage of their
new resources.
Community
involvement and
teacher training are
crucial for the
success of any
school. Some
schools may need
more time or
attention than
others. We
encourage you to
read about each
project and to learn
about the different
programs we are
implementing in
our communities
and follow our
progress!

Puerto Plata Hotel
and D.R.E.A.M.
(Dominican Republic Education And Mentoring)
Project
Our vision is to purchase the 90-room Puerto Plata Luxury Hotel in the Dominican Republic, situated aboven the beach near golfing the beach marina on the north coast of the Dominican Republic.
We strive to provide the substantial portion of profits from starting and operating the Puerto Plata Hotel to help support D.R.E.A.M., the Dominican Republic Education And Mentoring project.
D.R.E.A.M. is a US 501c3 nonprofit providing access to quality education for children of poverty in rural and small communities of the Dominican Republic by combining volunteerism, international awareness, and community involvement in a sustainable support system.
The Puerto Plata Hotel was built in year 2000, with the expectation that building a hotel in this location would create a successful family vacation hotel. The economic benefits were immediate and exceeded business projections; however, the owner wants to retire.
• The Hotel’s principal attraction has been the view of the Atlantic Ocean, and being only a 5-minute walk to the beach by a road only accessible from the hotel.
• The property is 13,000 square meters, 3,000 square meters of green area and 8,000 square meters of available terrain for property expansion to build 75 additional rooms.
• The Hotel includes 3 separate swimming pools, gym, tennis and volleyball court, recreational are and ample parking.
The increase of marine facilities for cruise ships and private yachts has added new hotels on the north coast of Dominican Republic. The low cost of labor and materials on the island makes this an ideal place for new business.
The Hotel is just 5 minutes from a new golf course being built between the beach and the hotel, 3 minutes from Ocean World Marina & Marine Park, and provides easy access to the beach.
D.R.E.A.M. Project Goal:
The D.R.E.A.M. Project is sustained through the contribution of time, talent, funds, materials, and supplies from individuals, foundations, and businesses.
Building classrooms, computer labs, libraries, science labs, and sport recreation areas.
Dominican and international volunteers teach in classrooms, libraries, and laboratories.
Operating summer camps, youth groups, preschools, and teacher training facilities.
Securing books, supplies, and educational materials for the classrooms.
Working in partnership with the Dominican Government, United Nations, U.S. Peace Corps, non-governmental organizations, universities, and high schools throughout the world.
The immediate need is to secure $5,800,000 to purchase the existing Puerto Plata Hotel and make renovations, operating and exspansion expenses.
We expect to increase room sales via the internet and through a network of supporting tourist brokers internationally.
The project requests total funding of $8,855,000.
Our expectations include generating a monthly profit to help support D.R.E.A.M.; improving the education opportunities for children living in the Dominican Republic.
Our goal includes keeping the generous portion of money earned on the island, in the Dominican Republic helping island children.
